We believe in the power of plurality
We act to respect, welcome, and include people, reinforcing a culture of diversity and promoting initiatives that help our people understand that everyone has equal opportunities to build a career. We know that on the journey to a diverse and inclusive environment, there is still much to be done, but we are strongly committed to daily progress with more than 18,000 associates from diverse cultures, backgrounds, experiences, and differences, making us an even more inventive, innovative, and plural Group. With this in mind, we have the Algar Without Barriers program. Created in 2018, the program aims to strengthen respect for differences in the workplace, fostering an environment that effectively promotes inclusion in the areas of: LGBTI+, Gender, Ethnicity, Generations, and People with Disabilities (PwDs).
Algar Without Barriers Diversity Guide
Our #GenteAlgar is the link that connects us with the purpose of being People serving People, and here, prejudice and discrimination have no voice. We want to experience the power of diversity every day, which is why we invest in initiatives that strengthen the way we act and inspire respect for diversity. We created the Diversity Guide for Algar Without Barriers, where we explain step-by-step how we respect people in a holistic way. In addition to this, we have also created guides for each focus area. Access and learn about each one of them:
We lead to grow together
Our greatest asset is our People! Each associate is part of this change and enables us to grow together, impacting and transforming the world we live in. We serve, support, and develop our talents with the certainty that we have things to learn and to teach. Be part of the change; we want you walking with us!
Our companies have been recognized by Great Place to Work as one of the best places to work. But the standout recognition goes to Algar Tech, named one of the best companies for women to work at in Brazil. This is because the Algar group does not tolerate, under any circumstances, situations of sexism. Additionally, our internal Ombudsman accepts reports of violence against women. To further strengthen gender diversity, we have projects aimed at pay equity, breastfeeding spaces in the workplace, and mentoring programs for women in leadership roles.
Lesbophobia, homophobia, biphobia, and transphobia take a life every 16 hours, according to data from the Ministry of Human Rights.
Looking at data like this, we realize that we need to understand the theory but, more importantly, take actions that strengthen us as a diverse group without harming any of us.
As a result, we’ve implemented best practices for bathroom use within the Algar group, introduced the use of social name badges, extended benefits to partners of same-sex Algarianos, created the LGBTI+ Forum, and much more.
thnicities must be respected—period. Black people, individuals from Asian, Indigenous, and other communities must be treated with respect and without stigmas. After all, skin color does not define character or professional competence, nor should it define one’s career. Therefore, we do not tolerate racist actions or any beliefs that demean people based on stereotypes. We actively combat exclusionary language and value individuals from different ethnic backgrounds.
We believe that different generations can coexist and grow in the same environment. To ensure this happens in a meaningful way, we promote training programs, courses, and discussions with younger professionals to continuously improve job satisfaction and advance performance and productivity at work.
Additionally, we have launched hiring campaigns for professionals aged 50+, investing in continuous learning and valuing the wisdom of more experienced individuals.
People with Disabilities (PwD)
We are learning every day that treating people with disabilities respectfully requires attention to language, development opportunities, and most importantly, accessibility.
That’s why the Algar group is one of the creators of the Diversity+ program, where we learn and evolve together in our responsibility to offer exclusive job openings for PwDs, assist Algarianos in overcoming language barriers, and adapt physical spaces so that everyone feels part of the Algar group.
We believe that good content is inspiring.
At Algar, diversity and inclusion are fundamental themes. Through the Algar Without Barriers program, we have been promoting policies and practices since 2018, focusing on Gender, LGBTI+, Ethnicity, Generations, and PwDs (People with Disabilities).
We recognize that the path to a truly diverse and inclusive environment is ongoing, and we are committed to evolving daily alongside all our People. Our goal is simple: to respect, welcome, and include everyone, promoting a culture of equity and developing initiatives that ensure equal opportunities for all to build their careers with us.
